US Studies: Mr. Perse
The US Studies course is based upon the state-mandated Social Studies curriculum, which covers various historical thinking skills, including the evaluation of historical sources, as well as the consideration of various interpretations of historical events. In addition, the course covers the political, economic, social, cultural and diplomatic themes related to the historical events from the post-Reconstruction Era (1877) through the post-Cold War Era to the present. Specific topics include the rise of America as an industrialized, urbanized nation, culminating in America's role as a world power. As such, the Industrial Age, Immigration, imperialism and America's role in two World Wars and the Cold War, as well as specific civil rights issues and various social transformations, both at home and abroad, will be studied.
